Introduction Since his release, Lucian has had one of the highest play rates in League of Legends. Whether it is because he is fun to play, strong, or interesting mechanically is up to the player. He is the first black champion to be released (other than perhaps old Karma if she counts), and is an Attack Damage Carry (ADC) Marksman. His particles are blue, with purple and white tinges utilizing laser light effects. He is called the Purifier for he has swore vengeance on Thresh, and uses his light firing guns to purify the demons of the Shadow Isles.

Lore Lucian wields relic weapons imbued with ancient power and stands a stalwart guardian against the undead. His cold conviction never wavers, even in the face of the maddening horrors he destroys beneath his hail of purifying fire. Lucian walks alone on a grim mission: to purge the spirits of those ensnared in undeath, his eternal beloved among them. Like the twin relic weapons they wielded, Lucian and his wife Senna were carved from the same stone.
Together they battled evil in Runeterra for years, bringing light to darkness and purging those taken by corruption. They were beacons of righteousness: Senna's dedication to their cause never faltered, while Lucian's kindness and warmth touched the hearts of the many lives they saved. Two parts of one whole, they were devoted and inseparable. Though Lucian and Senna witnessed terror that would break most warriors, nothing they had seen compared to the horrors wrought by the Shadow Isles. When the spectral denizens of that accursed place began to manifest across Runeterra, Lucian and Senna hunted them down wherever they appeared. It was grim work, but the fearless pair prevailed until one tragic encounter with the soul-collector Thresh. Lucian and Senna had faced such nightmarish undead before, but never one so deviously clever and cruel.
As the terrible battle unfolded, Thresh sprung an unexpected ploy. To Lucian's horror, the creature tricked Senna and ensnared her soul, trapping her in a spectral prison. Nothing could bring her back. Senna was lost, and for the first time, Lucian faced his mission alone. Though the Warden had taken half of Lucian's heart, he had also created the Shadow Isles' most dangerous foe. Lucian became a man of dark determination, one who would stop at nothing to purge the undead from the face of Runeterra. In honor of Senna's memory, he took up her fallen weapon and vowed to see their mission through to the end. Now wielding both relic weapons, Lucian fights to slay the undead and cleanse the souls of the Shadow Isles. He knows that Senna's soul is lost, but never loses hope that one day he will bring her peace.

Abilities and Analysis (Passive) Lightslinger - After using an ability, Lucian's next basic attack within 3 seconds shoots twice, dealing 30 / 40 / 50 / 60% AD physical damage (100% AD against minions) on the second shot, which also applies on-hit effects and can critically strike for half damage against champions and monsters. If Lucian's primary target is killed before the second shot can go off, he automatically shoots another enemy if available.
Analysis - This is what makes Lucian. His E is affected by this as is his caster playstyle, burst, bullying, and accounts for building less AS than other ADC's. It becomes free harass after a high damaging ability or kiting tool, and allows for extra damage in shorter time frames for a response. During which you may disengage, keep engaging, or rotate with firing 6 shots in the time most ADC's would do 4 at that point if even that. Granted the second shot deals less damage, but if it dealt 100%, Lucian would be on par with an Ezreal who hit 100% of his Q's. In other words, broken as all hell. ADC's take down turrets as well and provide cover fire as well as using crits and penetration to take out tanks -- with double shot, Lucian can take out Turrets quite fast while hurting/clearing waves. His close range on this and his normal Auto range however makes sure that he needs to dynamically assess the situation and weave through teamfights or just hyper burst a backline using the rotation.

(Q) Piercing Light - After a 0.35-second delay, Lucian fires a laser in the direction of the target enemy, dealing 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+ 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120% bonus AD) physical damage to enemies in a fixed line.
Analysis - This scales very well, and after a BF Sword -- will make your lane bullying impressive. It hurts. It is you strongest ability for harass, for your burst, and a very potent waveclear tool. You want to line this up with minions (short targeting range, long line of damage) to hit them behind their wave and their wave at the same time. It takes practice but makes him potent. Combo this with your double shot and Fervor mastery -- you've won any trade with any other ADC with a single ability trade as well as being fast enough to not even warrant retaliation if you play it right. You want to land this if you wish to burst someone down, it is simply very painful. However, it can also miss considering it is a fixed line and in that .35 seconds -- your target or one behind moves, it can miss (even though it follows slightly, it isn't going to perfectly target). This is perhaps the only point and click ability that can outright miss. In any case, very important skill in damage.

(W) Ardent Blaze - Lucian fires a shot that explodes in a cross pattern upon hitting an enemy or reaching the end of its path, dealing 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+ 90% AP) magic damage, marking enemies hit for 6 seconds and granting sight of them for the duration. If Lucian or allied champions damage a marked target with basic attacks or abilities, he gains (60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80) bonus movement speed for 1 second.
Analysis - Powerful tool for kiting. And AP Lucian if you felt the urge. Throwing this when a tank is chasing you and utilizing your passive first and abilities will allow you to close range kite and look professional as hell. It also can be used to check bushes and fog of war (dark area). Deals almost no damage, but lets you catch up or run away when coupled with your passive or in a teamfight where you need to position fast.

(E) Relentless Pursuit - Lucian dashes a short distance. Cooldown is reduced by 1 second for each of Lightslinger's strikes, doubled to 2 seconds against enemy champions.
Analysis - Used for re-positioning and resetting your auto to deal even more burst and indirectly increase intrinsic Attack Speed. It lets you make many plays -- dashing over walls, coming out of nowhere to burst someone and after Reaver and a crit item, having it up again after your burst to leave. Lucian can use this to be like an assassin, or a teamfight kite monster, or a surprise lane bully engage/disengage. It is just a dash, but proccing his passive and having it up if you loose your entire rotation is very powerful.

(R) The Culling - Lucian fires shots in the target direction for 3 seconds, dealing 20/35/50 (+20% AD) (+10% AP) [ 20/25/30 shots per rank] physical damage to the first enemy they collide with. The damage is quadrupled against enemy minions. While using The Culling, Lucian cannot attack or use damaging abilities, and can only be interrupted by crowd control that inhibits Lucian's ability to use basic attacks, but is ghosted, can move freely and activate Relentless Pursuit. The Culling can be reactivated to end its effects immediately.
Analysis - Using this to finish off an enemy, mitigate dives or enhance your own by instantly ranged clearing minions, pushing a wave before you recall, kiting with W/R, adding burst for the last few ticks, sniping over a wall, using it behind a teamfight and repositioning it with E or through a wall while firing, many uses. That's all there is to be explained of this ability as it is self-evident in those constraints.

Weakness' Overall, Lucian is a very powerful AD Carry who specializes in bullying a lane after a BF Sword and upfront high burst quickly. He is of course, vulnerable after he rotates his burst, but can kite off of the W passive if you are marked with just auto and dash to safety. Being close range however, he is a target for CC and being so squishy, it is easier to focus him than most other ADC's. He is also very open to being shut down due to the nature of being an aggressive carry who inadvertently pushes lane quite a bit.
