Gun Control Empty
PostSubject: Gun Control   Gun Control EmptyFri Jun 24, 2016 4:42 am

With the Orlando shooting looming over the U.S.A. and Congress unable to decide on anything -- what is your take on guns?

What do you think of the policies they are trying to implement, and which side are you on -- and why?

Democrats range from wanting to have current gun laws be enforced better, stricter background checks, and bans of AR range guns. Believing that it is too easy to acquire a gun (as secondary sales are legal, and with no way to monitor -- even a 10 year old can buy a gun and not be known to have one) as well as how incredibly lackluster the process of getting a gun is for criminals and questionable persons. Their main goal is to make acquiring a gun take a longer, regulated process so as to mitigate the sales of guns to criminals or people not qualified to wield one (while having better data on gun control), as well as take away the guns that are being used to mow down human beings domestically as they did with full automatics in addition to making people on the no fly list be unable to acquire guns.

Republicans however, seem to want to veer off of the issue of gun control in the U.S. and focus on political issues and military incubation insertion. ISIS being a motivator for criminals to assert terrorism, and inner security being too lax; as well as the NRA staying as a powerful political combatant against any attempt to alter the second amendment have kept Republicans on the path for empowering citizens to protect themselves and making the defeat of ISIS the main subject.

Guns don't kill people. It just makes it easier for people to kill people. Put more background checks into the purchasing of guns and make it to where if you buy a gun from someone else it has to be registered. Why would you take away our second amendment right? It's unconstitutional.

I neither identify as republican nor democrat btw.

Gun Control Empty

I think current gun control laws and regulations are fine as they are. What we really need is a better healthcare system including therapy and mental health along with an overhaul in the way Big Pharma is treated. Almost all of the incidents where mass shootings have occurred have the common link of the perpetrator either not being in sound mental health or being medicated with drugs for their condition that have been known to have extreme side effects on the mind.

There have also been many many suicides linked to drugs.

Not trying to derail the thread but I honestly think the root of the gun issue is not the gun issue but the issue of healthcare and the way Big Pharma is allowed to function.
